I have 15 years’ legal experience working on complex, international transactions with multi-national corporate groups, individuals, charities, private equity investors and family businesses. My background is in company, corporate and commercial law, with experience in drafting, negotiating and implementing a wide range of documents on mergers and acquisitions, buy-outs, public listings, corporate reorganisations, management incentive arrangements, company incorporations, IP licences, distribution arrangements and joint ventures.
I have lived and worked in London, Frankfurt and São Paulo, visited all five main continents for business and worked with professionals around the globe. Almost every day of my career has involved another country in some way or other.
Why does this matter? Because you are relying on me as your interface with whichever country you are dealing with. Not only am I steeped in the English legal system, with detailed technical knowledge, but I also understand the differences from other legal systems. I am skilled at interpreting and clarifying instructions and information, and I know how to explain English law concepts in a way that others can understand. All of which adds up to a smoother process and the right result for you.
In common with colleagues across the notarial profession, I pride myself on my independence, probity and competence. In addition to my years of experience in the English legal system as a solicitor, I have taken several exams (Private International Law, Roman Law and Notarial Practice) on my route to qualifying as a notary. I maintain my knowledge through ongoing training and general reading and I am a member of the Notaries Society, the professional association which provides training and support for general notaries in England and Wales. What clients say makes me stand out is my can-do attitude. I am a firm believer that “where there is a will there is a way” and will strive to find a route to achieve your requirements within the boundaries of both English law and that of the jurisdiction in which you are transacting.
Fabulous legal experience is all very well but you want to work with someone that you can trust and that you enjoy talking to. I pride myself on being friendly and approachable, with the ability to connect with clients. I thoroughly enjoy getting to understand the transaction you are undertaking and the reasons for it: the variety of matters is one reason I became a notary. Whether your job is a one-off or you are likely to need a notary for many years to come, you can be sure that I will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about your transaction and to take you through each necessary step. Outside of work, my time is spent parenting four boisterous boys and with any energy I have left, enjoying outdoor adventures. Running, orienteering, hill-walking - you name it and I’m game. The muddier the better, as long as there’s a hot shower and a good meal at the end of it!
